Weekend outlook
A return of changeable conditions

Wind forecast map of the UK and Ireland on Saturday 25.07 showing breezy to windy conditions, with gusts reaching 40 mph in Ireland, 35 mph across Scotland and northern England, and a windsock icon highlighting strong winds.
Gusting winds return for Saturday on the WindRadar.

While heat-health alerts have been issued again for rising temperatures over the weekend, there is relief as more changeable conditions develop.

Saturday begins cloudy with outbreaks of rain across the west and north of Ireland into Scotland. The frontal system responsible is moving southeast into northern England and Wales towards the evening.

Gusting winds grow stronger than seen in recent weeks too, particularly over the north and east of Scotland into north-east England with gusts of up to 40 mph possible.

While temperatures are widely around average, and possibly above average in the south of England, yellow heat-health alerts run from Friday to Sunday across England.

By Sunday the day is a little cooler with more widespread outbreaks of showery rain. Some sunny spells develop in between these as breezy conditions remain for those in the west and south of the UK and Ireland.

The day's high remains around average for most, though slightly below average in more northern to north-eastern parts of the UK.
