Weekend weather
Cooler, wetter & windier!

Much cooler and fresher over the weekend, than recent days.

A cooler, more unsettled weekend to come, with highs only getting into the low-twenties, following the heatwave.

A cloudier start for much of England and Wales with showery spells of rain around on Saturday, tracking eastwards later through the morning.

Becoming increasingly fine and sunny for many later in the day, though some heavier bursts of rain look to skim the southern coast of England. Showers for Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland too.

Clouding over from the west into Sunday, with outbreaks of patchy light rain drifting eastwards. Rain then looks to intensify across Ireland in the afternoon, reaching Scotland through the evening.

A few spots of lighter rain possible elsewhere, but on the whole plenty of dry weather. Further heavy rain returning to Ireland overnight too.

Winds will also be ramping up through the day Sunday, gusting locally around 50 mph along the exposed west coast of Ireland, around Belmullet. Even inland, winds are expected to widely gust around 30 mph.

Wales, Scotland and north-west England will also see blustery winds, around 50 mph on the Western Isles.
