Another windswept day ahead, with a chance of a stormy afternoon in parts of Scotland.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the breakfast brief, delivering a look at the day's weather and a sneak peek at today's articles.

Weather outlook

Much of the rain seen on Monday has cleared, though two clear bands remain across western areas of the UK, and towards the south-east.

By early afternoon, showers develop across Ireland, while a risk of thundery showers forms in western Scotland.

It remains a windswept outlook, with highs of 40 mph in Dublin and across western Scotland, before gusts grow stronger later in the week.
