Weather outlook
Cooler week with an unsettled split

Temperature map of the UK and western Europe on 30.06 showing warm conditions across Britain, with temperatures reaching 24°C near London, around 20°C in Ireland and southern Britain, and 17°C across parts of Scotland.

A much different picture this week, after the second heatwave of the year conditions are cooler, cloudier, and with more rain on the way in parts.

Early in the week unsettled weather is split. Generally gloomier, with more rain for Ireland into northern and western parts of the UK. Meanwhile, it's staying sunnier and warmer in th south and east.

Record June heat

The June temperature record was broken last week on three concecutive days, eventually ending at 37.7 °C on Friday in Lingwood, Norfolk.

Temperatures throughout the week are much more manageable, between the low to mid-20s across both countries, dipping into the teens for easier nights.

From Wednesday, windier days arrive. Initially across Ireland and western regions of the UK, moving east through Thursday.

Heading towards the weekend, high pressure makes a return are also stretches over the Azores. A classic set-up in summer that drives temperatures upwards.

From this, daily highs head back into the high-20s and perhaps low-30s in the south-east of England which is then sustained into next week as well for the south.
