Earlier than expected
Storm Dudley is already making an impact

WindRadar

The peak of Storm Dudley’s impact is now expected to arrive, and depart, earlier than previously thought.

Fierce winds are already buffeting the UK and Ireland this morning as Dudley makes its entrance.

In Scotland, a number of ferry services have been cancelled and ScotRail has announced that some routes would be stopped after 04:00 pm with wind gusts likely to reach 80 mph.

The strong westerly winds are extremely likely to fell trees, pushing debris across rail lines and roads across the UK and Ireland, even those outside official warning areas.

People in coastal or exposed areas at high altitudes could even see gusts reaching 90 mph later today from 04:00 pm into the late night. It was previously expected that Dudley's peak would arrive later this evening.

Coastal flooding is a possibility with treacherous conditions out in the water that all should seek to avoid.

In York over 100 properties have already suffered power cuts and Northern Powergrid say those caught in wind warning regions should prepare for further both today and later this week with Storm Eunice.

There is currently one flood warning in place for Keswick after high levels of water in Derwentwater were recorded. A further 21 flood alerts are in effect which you can check on the official Government website.
