Breakfast brief
Wet day as winds grow stronger tonight

Rain spreads through the day, as winds will be picking up again overnight.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the Breakfast Brief, your first look at the day's forecast and a chance to catch up on what you may have missed.

Weather outlook

Today begins with rain stretching along western Scotland and Northern Ireland, gradually moving east, bringing a fresh band across Ireland and to eastern areas of the UK. This grows stronger, impacting Wales and a greater extent of England into Tuesday night.

Warm air keeps things mild, particularly for Ireland today, and spreading wider in the night into Wednesday, where highs could reach the mid-teens in south-east England.

It will feel cooler in the strong winds however, with gusts up to around 45 mph in parts of Ireland, southern Wales, and Scotland on the WindRadar.
