More warm sunshine, but turning more changeable over the long weekend

05:27
28 April 2026

Windy in some areas
More warm sunshine, changeable later

Tuesday will be rather dull and drizzly at first before things improve in the afternoon

High pressure continues to dominate this week even though some cloud and rain will be on the cards as well. A broader change to more unsettled weather then seems likely as we head into May.

Tuesday starts on a rather grey and misty note for many with some drizzle in places. However, as drier air filters in from the east during the day, bright or sunny spells are expected to develop.

Wednesday and Thursday will be mainly fine with plenty of sunshine once local mist and fog have cleared. Winds will however be fairly strong and gusty across the south of the UK at times.

Things are then likely to become more unsettled over Ireland and western parts of Britain on Friday as Atlantic fronts bring more extensive cloud and patchy rain.

Into the long weekend, more changeable conditions seem likely, with a blend of bright spells and some passing rain or showers.

Temperatures should remain around or just above average for the time of year, making it still generally pleasant for outdoor plans, just with a need to keep an umbrella or rain jacket handy.
