Weekend outlook
Days turn cooler and nights turn chilly

Split temperature maps comparing daytime temperatures on Saturday 18.07 with early morning temperatures on Sunday across the UK and Ireland. Daytime highs reach 25°C in southern England, 24°C in southwest Ireland, and 22°C in western Scotland, while early morning lows range from 8°C in western Scotland to 14°C in southern England and 11 to 12°C across most of Ireland.
Daily highs are slightly cooler this weekend, with single digit lows for some overnight into Sunday.

Temperatures are cooling over the weekend, falling back to around the average for the time of year with some chilly nights in places.

Saturday sees a cloudy start for the parts of the UK and Ireland, mostly to the north and east with patchy light rain offering a little relief from the prolonged dry spell.

Southern areas see more scattered cloud as the day goes on, and could also see showers at times with temperatures peaking in the mid-20s to the south-east, and the low-20s more widely.

By Sunday, conditions are mainly fine and dry with thicker cloud cover remaining at times in the north. Temperatures remain around the average for the time of year, which will feel cooler compared to recent heatwaves.

Into the evening, these drop sharply. Falling as low as 6 to 7°C locally in some rural areas of the north and north-east but widely reaching only a few degrees above 10°C making those tropical nights feel distant in the memory.

Strong high pressure remains dominant throughout and into the new week which is likely to lead to mainly dry and fine weather with growing chances of rain in parts.
