Weather trend
Chillier week with plenty of rain

Weather radar map dated Tue 24.03 showing a band of rain in blue moving from the Atlantic across Ireland into western and central UK, with brighter conditions further east.Tursday sees heavy rain move across the countries, with chances of snow over higher ground.

A wet and windy start to the week give way to much cooler temperatures than seen so far this spring across the UK and Ireland.

The week starts with heavier periods of rain, particularly moving through much of Ireland, northern England, and Wales. Some isolated sunny spells towards west to northwest Ireland will quickly be replaced by rain too on Tuesday.

This precipitation could turn wintry, with snow over higher ground in both countries, with strong winds for all, strongest around western Wales up to 60 mph, and similarly for western Ireland. Blustery showers with a chance of hail and thunder move across Scotland and Northern Ireland too.

From Wednesday, there is a noticable drop in temperatures. Wednesday evening into Thursday morning sees lows fall to around freezing, bringing a frosty start to the day.

Despite the chillier temperatures, a reprieve from the winds and rain can be enjoyed on Thursday itself, before a risk of further outbreaks to end the working week on Friday.
