Unsettled conditions likely to persist in the run-up to Easter

Weather trend
Unsettled conditions in run-up to Easter

Map showing expected maximum temperatures on TuesdayTuesday afternoon highs will be fairly mild in many regions.

Low pressure systems will keep things rather changeable, while the trend for the Easter weekend looks wet and windy for some.

Tuesday will often start rather cloudy and murky, perhaps with some patchy light rain or drizzle. However, some bright intervals are likely to develop later in the day.

It will feel noticeably milder than on Monday across many parts of Wales and England in particular thanks to weaker winds and a warmer air mass. Western and northern Scotland meanwhile

Little change is expected on Wednesday, with a mix of cloud and some bright or sunny spells for most of England and Wales in fairly mild air.

A frontal zone will however affect Scotland and parts of Ireland later on, bringing rain and gusty winds and even some wintriness over high ground in the Highlands as colder air arrives.

Thursday will see variable cloud and perhaps the odd spot of rain, though with higher rain chances again in the far north and west.

A more vigorous low pressure system may then develop on Friday, setting the stage for a rather wet and windy Easter weekend. There is even a signal for coastal gales across parts of the north and west.

Details are still a little unclear at this stage though, so keep checking your local forecast this week.
