Unsettled again
Humid air brings thundery outbreaks

Temperature map for Wednesday August 26th showing 26°C near London, 24°C in Cardiff, 23°C in Liverpool, 20°C in Dublin, and 18-19°C across Scotland.
Conditions warm and turn humid as thunderstorms develop.

Low pressure becomes increasingly influential this week after a settled start, with heavy rain and another outbreak of thunderstorms expected from Wednesday.

Conditions begin to change already by Tuesday due to an area of low pressure over the Bay of Biscay but at first it is mostly dry with sunny spells despite some patchy light rain in northern England and parts of Scotland.

Wednesday marks the turning point if the week. Things become increasingly warm and humid across Ireland, Wales, and southern to central England, resulting in scattered, thundery showers, some heavy which could lead to flash-floods. Where thunderstorms develop, up to 60 mm of rainfall could fall in a few hours.

Those conditions remain in place on Thursday with further heavy downpours and thunderstorms across southwestern and southern England early in the day, though there is still some uncertainty on exactly where they will reach at this point.

Into the Bank Holiday Weekend conditions remain stable in its instability. Friday sees a cooler day with low-pressure likely to remain dominant over the weekend into the coming week.
