The second supermoon of the year rises Tuesday, and delivers a partial lunar eclipse visible in the UK and Ireland.

From our vantage point, the eclipse will be visible throughout its duration, best viewed between 01:41 am and 05:47 am in the early hours of Wednesday.

Only a small portion of the Moon will be within the shadow of the Earth, with the top 8% of the Moon's surface darkened, according to NASA.

While there is some cloud cover in parts of the UK and Ireland tonight, many areas have a good chance of seeing the eclipse during the peak hours. Check the WeatherRadar for conditions near you.

It takes places during the second of four consecutive supermoons in 2024.

In August, the supermoon was also a blue moon, with the next blue supermoon not due until 2037.
