Storm Bora has been delivering heavy rain to Greece for days, with more heavy rain ahead for a popular holiday destination.

The holiday island of Rhodes has been hit hard, with the fire service responding to around 600 calls on Monday to help pump water out of flooded houses and rescue people stranded.

Travel was disrupted by damage to roads, with further storms in the area on Tuesday, and heavy rain expected to return by Friday.

Two people have been confirmed to have passed away as Bora delivered torrential rain, with total amounts reaching 30 cm in Rhodes, and gale-force winds from Saturday onwards.

Rhodes and the Greek island of Lemnos declared a state of emergency on Monday.

Earlier this year, Google revealed that Greece is the number one searched for holiday destination for British holidaymakers.
