Storm Ashley to bring severe weather

A wet and windy day ahead with winds gusting up to 80 mph in the west.

As Storm Ashley makes its way towards the UK and Ireland, western areas will be bearing the brunt of its winds as they gust up to 80 mph across southern and western Ireland.

Ireland and Northern Ireland as a whole will be seeing winds gust widely up to 60 - 65 mph too, while western portions of England, Wales and later Scotland could even see gusts of up to 50 mph, perhaps 60 mph locally.

Heavy rain will accompany the strong winds, with large waves also anticipated along south-west facing coastal areas. Weather warnings are in force too.
