The wettest week since February and the arrival of low pressure has helped ease the drought situation in England somewhat, but not enough to make a significant difference.

Despite August 28th to September 3rd seeing the most rainfall since winter, reservoir levels continue to drop due to excess demand.

Ten water companies are still enforcing water restrictions with 11 regions still in drought status and every other region in England seeing "prolonged dry weather".

Further rain is expected to arrive on Thursday, but it will take weeks of sustained rainfall before the regions in drought begin to see a true recovery.

For now, river flow, soil moisture deficits, and environmental conditions across England are all improving according to the Environment Agency.
