Mid-week change
Low brings heavy rain and brisk winds

After a brief drier interlude for many this Tuesday, further heavy rain moves in heading into Wednesday.

With the exception of the far north of Scotland, much of the UK and Ireland is experiencing fine weather with sunny spells.

Later in the night however, cloud will increase from the south-west, with an area of heavy, persistent and thundery rain pushing into southern portions of Ireland.

Rain will then also push into south-west England and Wales through Wednesday, tracking further north and eastwards as the day wears on.

Blustery winds will accompany the sharp downpours too, especially across exposed eastern coasts of Ireland, from Wicklow to Waterford, as well as south-west Wales around Haverfordwest and Carmarthen where gusts may reach 40 - 45 mph.
