Hurricane Francine is the third and strongest hurricane to hit the US in 2024, making landfall in Louisiana.

Hurricane Francine, a Category 2 storm at landfall, struck Louisiana on September 11th 2024 at approximately 5 pm local time, with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph.

The storm has already caused significant flash flooding in areas like Metairie, a major suburb of New Orleans.

Storm surge is expected to reach up to 10 feet or more (over 3 metres) along the Louisiana coast. Our weather reporter, Jonathan Petramala is reporting live from the scene, as shown in the video footage above.
