Active warnings for Monday.

Widespread warnings are in place as Storm Floris impacts the UK and Ireland on Monday.

The most severe as seen across northern Scotland, where official amber alerts are active. Gusts are expected to reach up to 85 mph in western Scotland including the Hebrides, with disruption expected for the Scottish bank holiday.

It is also a wet start across both countries, with heavy rain in the morning. This eases in many areas ahead of the winds, which persist into the evening.

Dangerous timing

The arrival of Floris with trees still in full leaf makes it more likely to see trees falling in the severe gusts on the day.
