Growing season is now
Is your hay fever worsening?

pollen

If you're feeling like your hay fever is particularly bad lately, there may be some weather to blame for that...

Generally, May to July is termed the "growing season", when plants and trees typically produce more pollen. Combined with warmer temperatures during this time of year, too, the pollen count spikes and hay fever symptoms can soar.

But it's not necessarily the same every year, it can also be dependent on how our weather has been in the months leading up to the growing season.

Mild winters, warm springs and hot summers are also leading to a longer and more pronounced growing season. So your hay fever may actually be getting worse over time, too.

This year we have seen the sunniest May on record as well as the warmest spring ever too. Despite this, we also saw the driest spring in 50 years, leading to mixed fortunes for this year's growing season.
