Good visibility for most - The Pink Moon rises tonight

Good visibility for most
The Pink Moon rises tonight

Cloud covers the skies in parts of England, but its clearer elsewhere.

April's full moon, known as the Pink Moon, rises tonight with good visibility... outside of much of England.

As with all full moons, the name derives from Native Americans and the Pink Moon reflects pink flowers which bloomed at this time of the year.

Rising Wednesday evening, the full moon reaches its peak in the early hours at 03:12 am.

Visibility is best across Ireland in the evening, with skies clearing behind a band of rain pushing east.

A more important full moon than most

April's full moon isn't only a spectacle for the display, it also decides the timing of Easter which occurs on the first Sunday following the first full moon following the spring equinox.

By midnight, much of Scotland and Wales will also enjoy clearer skies to see the full moon rise. Cloud cover masks this in parts of England, and becomes more widespread deeper into the night.
