Freezing start before chance of snow

A chilly but dry morning turns wet and snowy in places as we move towards the evening.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the Breakfast Brief, providing your first forecast of the day and a chance to catch up on what you may have missed.

Weather outlook

Much of Scotland begins Tuesday close to or below freezing, joined by some areas of Wales and Ireland including both capital cities.

Temperatures do improve this afternoon, with south-west Ireland feeling the best of the warmth, 11°C around Tralee. Elsewhere, we expect highs in the mid- to high-single digits.

From midday heavy rain begins to fall in parts of Ireland, while in western Scotland snow returns. A mix of rain and snow, predominantly over higher altitudes, continues, reaching southwards deeper into the UK overnight.
