Weekend weather
Deep low to bring wet, windy weather

Sunday's low arriving through the 29th.

While the weekend may be off to a drier start, Sunday is set to see wet and windy weather as a deep low drives in.

A chilly start to Saturday with temperatures down to around 3°C or 4°C widely, sub-zero in local spots further north with a touch of a frost in places.

Cloud will increase from the west across Scotland bringing outbreaks of rain here with some patches drifting into Ireland and Northern Ireland too.

Sunny spells for the most part elsewhere, but chilly with temperatures mainly hovering around the low double digits, peaking at around 13°C or 14°C in the south.

A more unsettled day to come Sunday as a deep area of low pressure drives in heavy rain and strong winds from the south-west.

This low arriving to the UK and Ireland will be an off-cut spawned from Hurricane Isaac, currently out in the Atlantic.

Depending on the exact track of this system, some large waves are possible along south and south-wet facing coasts of Ireland and south-west England.

Heavy rain and strong winds gusting up to 60 mph will continue for most of the day and night, with the last of the rain in the east then clearing through Monday morning.
