Chilly with spells of rain at times

Temperatures remaining below-average this weekend, before warming up into the new working week.

With a bitterly cold end to the week, conditions are staying on the chilly side throughout the weekend, but with some rain around.

Saturday will see patchy spells of rain between brighter spells across the board for the UK and Ireland, though heavier rain for Scotland. Rain will be accompanied by some brisk winds, especially in the north-east.

Precipitation across Scotland will turn increasingly wintry over the hills later in the day, with some sleet or wet snow possible.

Rain will then clear eastwards into the evening, perhaps briefly intensifying around Norfolk in its clearance where the odd thundery burst cannot be ruled out, leaving increasingly clear skies in its wake.

A broadly clear and another chilly night in store, with a patchy frost possible in places by Sunday morning.

Cloud increasing from the west into Sunday however, later bringing a band of heavy rain in to Ireland and Northern Ireland, mainly by evening.

This rain slowly creeping eastwards into Sunday night and Monday morning, with a damp commute in the forecast for many.

The good news is though, it will be an improving picture through the day on Monday to start the new working week!
