Chilly mornings persist
Heat peaks then drops again

Temperature map of the UK and Ireland dated 08.04 showing daytime highs in orange shades, with values around 13 in western Ireland up to 24 in London and southeast England.

Storm Dave impacted the Easter weekend, but temperatures are up to start the week, peaking on Wednesday before rain brings a cooler feel again.

Cloud and patchy rain affect Ireland and Scotland, while England and eastern Wales stay fine and very warm on Wednesday. Highs could reach up to 24°C in parts of England, mainly to the south-east.

Cloud increases in the west later, with a small chance of evening showers, keeping Ireland in the mid- to upper-teens.

Thursday brings a marked change. After a warm start in the southeast, up to 19 - 20 °C, a band of heavy, showery rain moves through, with a risk of thunder.

Conditions are turning cooler behind it, with blustery showers and temperatures dropping to 9 - 12 °C in the west and north.

Friday stays cooler and unsettled. Sunny spells mix with frequent showers, heaviest in the west and northwest.

Eastern areas will see brighter spells. A fresh westerly breeze keeps things a little chilly before a further drop with lows of around freezing for the weekend.
