Breakfast brief
Chillier, but plenty of sunshine

A chilly start in the north as arctic air sinks southwards, becoming increasingly fine through the day.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the breakfast brief, offering your daily weather forecast and a sneak peek at the day's news.

Weather outlook

A cold and clear start across much of the UK and Ireland, with temperatures down to the low single-digits or locally sub-zero further north, with a patchy frost.

Cloudier and less cold further south with showery rain, with this continuing to clear through the morning to give way to increasing amounts of sunshine across the board.

Despite the sunshine the day will remain chilly, with maximum temperatures ranging between 8°C and 12°C for most. A widely clear, cold night to follow.
