Breakfast brief
Overcast but mild build to Christmas

A mild day with temperatures widely in double-digits.

Christmas Eve delivers warmth across the UK and Ireland, but also passing showers on another overcast day.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the Breakfast Brief, your first forecast for the day and a chance to catch up on what you may have missed.

Weather outlook

Warmer air continues to rest over the UK and Ireland, lifting temperatures into the low, and in some areas mid-teens. This fades somewhat overnight into Christmas Day for eastern England.

Despite the warmth, it is another primarily overcast day with showers pushing through. Spreading widest over western Scotland.

Some gusting winds also persist in western Scotland with gusts reaching up to 40 mph over Portree. Elsewhere, it's a calm Christmas Eve.
