Breakfast brief
Gales in places as rain arrives later

Wind warnings are still live but easing through the day, as heavy rain returns from the south-west on a mild Wednesday.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the Breakfast Brief, your first forecast of the day and a chance to catch up on what you may have missed.

Weather outlook

Warnings remain in place as strong winds gust through the UK and Ireland. This morning strongest in eastern Ireland, Wales, and western Scotland. Easing from midday but a separate system moves in from the south-west.

This system delivers heavy rain as it moves north-east, with possible snowy showers over higher altitudes of northern England.

While conditions aren't pleasant, temperatures remain mild. Highs of around 14°C in East Anglia and widely in double-digits across England and Wales. Parts of Scotland also enjoy this reprieve, though Ireland cools into the evening.
