04:00
4 October 2024

Breakfast brief
A tale of two halves

Milder under cloudier skies across Ireland, but a chilly start Friday elsewhere.

An east-west split in conditions through the day, with high pressure sat to the east, and low pressure approaching from the west.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the breakfast brief, offering your daily weather forecast and a sneak peek at the day's news.

Weather outlook

A chilly start under clear skies across large parts of England and Wales, with early morning temperatures around 5°C or 6°C.

Cloudier with outbreaks of rain in the west, chiefly across Ireland and Scotland, though plenty of sunny spells prevailing elsewhere.

Little change in conditions overnight, staying broadly dry and clear for England and Wales, while spells of rain persist in the north and west.

What's coming up in the news

Prepare for the weeks ahead with our latest weather trend this afternoon, and more specifically the weekend ahead with the weekend weather breakdown on Saturday morning.
