This August Bank Holiday won't necessarily be feeling particularly summery, with heavy rain for some and below-average temperatures.

Saturday will see a low pressure system bring an area of heavy rain to parts of central and southern England, particularly during the morning, before slowly clearing eastwards.

Turning brighter in its wake, so a better chance of staying dry from late Saturday afternoon and into the evening if you're planning on heading out! A cool day though, with highs only really hitting the mid to high teens for many.

A reversal of fortunes for Sunday, with heavy rain hitting northern areas instead, chiefly north-west England and western Scotland, though some patchy rain for other western portions elsewhere too. Fine with sunny spells further south and east.

Bank Holiday Monday will see the best of the widespread dry weather throughout the weekend, with plenty of dry conditions and sunny spells.

This will be short-lived during the daytime though, with a renewed risk of rain later. Heavy rain will be tracking in from the west by Monday evening, reaching into parts of Scotland overnight.
