Disruption to roads, rail, ferries, and airports are expected on Friday due to the severe winds as Austen moves eastwards through the day.

By Friday morning, Austen is moving through the English Channel.

Those in coastal areas should also take extra care with large waves building and debris likely to fly.

Heavy rain could also lead to surface flooding, both across Ireland but also extending into southern to eastern Scotland too despite the winds focused along the south of the UK.

As Austen departs Friday afternoon, eyes turn north for the arrival of Storm Boelo.
