Heat warnings remain for eastern England as temperatures start to fall.

Temperatures are finally dropping over the weekend, returning to the low to mid-20s next week with increasing wind and rain.

Saturday remains warm for most, though highs in Ireland, Scotland, and much of Wales reduce to the 20s. Amber extreme heat warnings remain in effect for eastern England though where the low-30s will be reached once again.

Despite the heat, more unsettled weather is on the way. Winds are picking up from Saturday with rain passing through Ireland and a risk of thunderstorms across eastern England.

While the risk is not as severe as the near-continent, the far south-east of England could see potent thunderstorms.

From Sunday, further showers move through the UK as temperatures take a more substantial dip. Back to the high-teens across Ireland and parts of Scotland and widely down to the low to mid-20s elsewhere.

This marks the trend for the coming week too, a return to more typical summer temperatures as we move into July.
