Weekend outlook
Temperature split as south heats up

Satellite weather map of the UK and western Europe showing largely sunny conditions across Britain and Ireland, with scattered light showers, patchy cloud, and temperatures ranging from 18°C to 26°C.

There's a clear north-south divide this weekend with hot weather to the south but still cooler and more unsettled elsewhere.

Saturday starts the trend, mainly warm and dry in the south and south-east of England albeit with some light showers and cloud.

Highs there reach the upper-20s while in Ireland and Scotland daily highs remain in the upper-teens.

On Sunday, high pressure is building over continental Europe, stretching over southern England raising temperatures again into the 30s, though not as severe as Europe will see where parts of Spain and France reach the low-40s.

Generally sunny as clouds clear over Ireland, patches of rain remain in the north-east of England.

The heat could ramp up further into the new week, reaching the upper-30s, again, in the south-east.
