Summer has arrived, bringing warming temperatures and a new spectrum of weather for you to capture on camera.

In our first image this week, submitted from Carlisle, we see a collection of solar phenomena. Learn more about haloes our past articles:

What are solar halos?read more

Circumzenithal arcs are the effect of refraction of the sun’s light hitting ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere, rather than hitting raindrops which creates the traditional rainbow.

Completing the trifecta are sun-dogs... these are the bright spots are a form of the solar halo and again as the result of ice crystals.

If you want to get involved, it is simple, just tap the image icon in the top-right or use the dedicated uploader.

What makes a good shot?

Hold your phone horizontally to capture in widescreen, keep steady when capturing the view, make sure your image is in focus, try to avoid harsh light or too little light.
