Rain continues as low-pressure dominates

WeatherRadar showing thunderstorms and rain over the UKFriday sees the potential for thunderstorms as persistent rain continues over Scotland, as seen on the WeatherRadar.

Battling low pressure systems over the coming weeks are set to bring more rainfall to the UK and Ireland.

The week ends with strong winds building over Scotland, reaching highs of around 40 mph near Aberdeen on Saturday and stronger still in the Western Isles.

This is accompanied by frequent showers across Ireland and the UK into the weekend, with a chance of some thunderstorms in southern Wales on Friday. This builds over the weekend into Sunday, where a heavier band of rainfall hits south-east England overnight.

Saturday evening also sees coastal gales building strength along the Channel, with potential for large, dangerous waves along the southern coast. Waves are likely to hit the coastline with force thanks to a small low coinciding with higher tides due to the full moon rising Saturday.

A large low pressure system sitting west of Ireland into the weekend begins pushing east by Monday amid other low pressure systems across Europe.

These frequent bouts of rainfall will lead to possible flooding over already saturated ground from Storm Babet and earlier rain, keep an eye out for flood warnings as this spreads.

Rainfall remains over Scotland for Monday, before heavier downpours affect both countries towards the end of the week.

Keep an eye on conditions as they form on the WeatherRadar.
