A stormy weekend as temperatures fall

weatherradar
Sunday sees extensive thunderstorms break out on the WeatherRadar.

A stormy weekend lays ahead for us, with weather warnings already in place, but things begin to cool off from next week.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected across the weekend, but with the higher risk on Sunday across central and southern areas of the UK in particular. This could come with gusty winds, torrential rain, and large hail in places.

Temperature-wise, it remains unseasonably warm and muggy for many away from the northwest and west, with Ireland, and western Scotland cooler already.

The transition to much cooler, and more average, temperatures will be early next week once winds shift more towards the west-northwest.

Into midweek, temperatures are unlikely to surpass 14 – 20C across the UK, warmest in the southeast as is typical, the coolest in the north and over the hills.

Average temperatures at this time of year are around 17 – 19°C, depending on the region, for afternoon temperatures. Far below the heat seen over the last week.

With temperatures falling, and humidity dropping too, it will be a much fresher feeling week ahead.

Stay up to date with the latest forecasts on the WeatherRadar at any time. Check back Sunday morning for more detailed analysis of the storms expected on the day.
