Video: Changing weather in rainforests

Rainforests bear the brunt of extreme and changing weather, even where tropical storms can't make their mark.

Rainforests are often called the lungs of our planet. They absorb approximately 25% of the world's carbon dioxide and produce roughly 6% of our oxygen.

Tropical forests are teeming with biodiversity and wildlife, and are critical in the planet's water regulation, carbon storage and overall climate regulation.

Meteorologist Tamsin Green visited one of the oldest rainforests on Earth in Malaysian Borneo. Rainforests have a delicate and intricate relationship with weather, whereby the weather plays a vital role in shaping this ecosystem, and vice versa.

Tamsin visited during a time of La Niña - one phenomenon which can influence the weather patterns here, and is making the "dry" season seemingly less pronounced.
