Up to 25 °C in Spain
Spring air floods large parts of Europe

After storms in southern Europe and weeks of cold weather in northern and parts of central Europe, spring has now arrived.

Warm spring air is flowing northeastwards from Spain, pushing winter far back into Lapland.

Where until recently storm gusts whipped torrential rain across the land, spring is now taking over. In Andalusia in southern Spain, temperatures will climb to between 20 and 25 °C in the coming days, with bright sunshine across the region.

From there, a broad stream of warm air sets in motion and gradually floods large parts of the continent.

As a result, temperatures in Central Europe will also rise to 15 to 20 °C from the middle of the week onwards, while in Scandinavia, frost and snow will retreat far into Lapland.

This impressive advance of spring is supported by a strong high-pressure system that is moving into position over Poland. It is diverting all Atlantic troughs to the north, preventing the warm air flow from being quickly overtaken by cooler air masses.

In the UK, highs reach around 20 °C in east England. Slightly lower in the low- to mid-teens more wildly across England and Wales. Scotland remains cooler but reaches double digits while in Ireland, Dublin sees a high of around 15 °C
