Breakfast brief
Umbrellas at the ready, then big coats!

While Kirk passes to our south, more showers are on the menu for the UK and Ireland, and it'll be turning colder.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the breakfast brief, offering your daily weather forecast and a sneak peek at the day's news.

Weather outlook

Plenty of showers across the UK throughout the day, some for Ireland too and with bright spells breaking through at times.

Turning colder through the day as winds switch round to the north, driving in arctic air with temperatures taking a dive.

By early Thursday morning temperatures could be sub-zero across parts of Scotland, perhaps accompanied by a few light snow showers in the Highlands, with a patchy frost possible elsewhere as skies continue to clear to the south.

What's coming up in the news

Your mid-week weather trend arrives this afternoon with the latest outlook across the UK and Ireland.

Plus, updates on Hurricane Milton which dramatically strengthened to category 5 as it approaches Florida, still recovering from the impact of Hurricane Helene.
