Turbulent times in the Mediterranean – a storm front is moving in

A storm is approaching
Turbulent times in the Mediterranean

A storm system is building up over the Mediterranean on Tuesday. Over the next few days, it will bring heavy rain, thunderstorms and gale-force winds, particularly to south-eastern Italy and from Greece to the Turkish Riviera.

There are currently many severe weather warnings in force across the Mediterranean region.

Particularly in the Apennines, some areas are set to receive between 100 and 200 mm of rain per square metre by the end of the week. Locally, significantly higher amounts are also possible.

In addition, strong winds are blowing across much of the region. In Croatia, the Bora is even sweeping across the Adriatic coast with gale-force gusts.

The weather will only gradually ease towards the weekend. Overall, however, it will remain changeable.
