Thunderstorms bring flood risk

Track the thunderstorms live on the WeatherRadar.

Weather warnings are in force with a thunderstorm risk to start the week.

Through Monday afternoon and evening, October 7th, an area of heavy showers and thunderstorms look to push up from the south-west.

The organised area of rain is expected to track north and eastwards into Wales and central/southern England, persisting through the overnight period.

Sharp downpours are expected bringing a risk of flooding, alongside a risk of hail, with the greatest potential for thunderstorms generally, but not limited to, southern regions.

With the thunderstorm risk developing from around 4 pm into the overnight, a risk of road surface spray and standing water may disrupt travel commutes.

Rain will then continue to clear northwards through the night, easing in intensity.
