California’s Death Valley is considered one of the driest and hottest places on Earth. The landscape is usually characterised by sand and rock.

However, following heavy rainfall last autumn and winter, countless wildflowers are now in bloom.

According to the park authorities, it is the most spectacular display of flowers in ten years. Hundreds of tourists have travelled there to admire the flowering meadows.

But there isn’t much time left. Over the next few days, maximum temperatures are set to approach the 40-degree mark. Due to the heat and strong sunshine, the vegetation will soon wither away.
