Strong winds and rain: Low pressure system reaches the UK and Ireland

Lots of wind and rain
Low pressure reaches the UK and Ireland

Yellow dots mark lightning strikes, mainly over Wales and central England. Temperatures range from 16°C in Glasgow and Cardiff to 20°C in London, Cork, and southern England.
WeatherRadar: Tuesday will be unpleasant in England.

The warm summer weather in the UK and Ireland is now turning more unsettled again due to a low-pressure system from the Atlantic.

The wind is already picking up noticeably today, reaching speeds of 30 to 45 mph (50 to 72 km/h), especially in the southern parts of the country.

In addition, numerous showers and brief thunderstorms are moving across Ireland and Scotland.

On Tuesday, the low-pressure system will reach the north of England.

Gusting winds will blow across the country, with stormy conditions on the coast. Heavy rain and temperatures below 20 °C will make conditions even more unpleasant. In Ireland, however, the weather will calm down again.
