Storm Lilian is already easing after battering parts of the UK on Friday morning with strong winds reaching around 70 mph.

Travel during rush hour was disrupted in some areas, with tree branches and other debris covering roads in the north-west of England.

Leeds Festival, due to begin today, has delayed its opening due to the conditions with two stages closed. Gusts in the area reached 65 mph at the Leeds/Bradford Airport.

Creamfields Festival in Derbyshire has also been impacted, with organisers telling attendees to remain in their cars until the winds had passed.

Flights at Heathrow were delayed this morning, while power cuts in Lancashire saw over 1,000 properties lose connection as Lilian rolled over in the early hours.

Weather warnings remain in effect, although the worst of the impacts has now passed.
