Weather outlook

The day is marked by heavy and persistent rainfall over Scotland, Northern Ireland, and parts of north-west Ireland. Flood alerts are live across western Scotland, with weather warnings for rain also cover the area.

Elsewhere, some light rainfall also reaches Wales by the afternoon, though it remains mostly dry across England.

Winds strengthen throughout the day, growing strongest along western Ireland tonight, where exposed areas such as Belmullet could see gusts reaching 60 mph.
