Significant rainfall totals racking up

Monday's WeatherRadar.

After a weekend of thunderstorms and torrential downpours, more heavy rain is on the way to start the week.

A slow-moving area of rain stalling across parts of the country will deliver further high rainfall totals through Monday, on top of the previous day's downpours where over 100 mm already fell across parts of the South Midlands.

An amber weather warning issued by the Met Office is in place for parts of central and southern England, with a further 80 mm of rain possible, perhaps locally over 100 mm.

A yellow weather warning is also in place for the wider area.

Counties including Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire could see some significant flooding by the end of Monday on already saturated soils, especially for any low-lying areas in close proximity to rivers.

Places such as Dunstable as seen in the footage above, were severely flooded as of Sunday evening.

Rain will persist for much of Monday, likely bringing travel disruption for the Monday evening commute, before beginning to ease and clear south and eastwards through the night.
