Storm Lilian impacts early Friday morning.

Storm Lilian has been named, arriving on Friday, with peak gusts reaching up to 80 mph in some areas.

Delivering gusting winds in the range of 50 to 60 mph across northern England, peak gusts could reach 80 mph from the early morning.

The system pushes east, impacting commuters on major routes including the M6 and A1(M) during rush hour. Weather warnings are in effect across England, Wales, and parts of Ireland.

Heavy rainfall accompanies the winds, impacting a wider area of Scotland and northern England.

Combined, disruption to travel and damage to infrastructure is likely.

This is a record-breaking 12th named storm in a single season, following Kathleen in April. Track its progress now on the WindRadar.
