Perfect for half-term - Warming waters in holiday spots

Ideal for half-term
Warming waters in holiday spots

Over the next few days, it’s set to get toasty across Europe. On Saturday, temperatures will reach highs of around 30 degrees from Spain to Germany.

Even in London, we’ll be hovering around the 30-degree mark. On top of that, there’ll be plenty of sunshine and early summer weather.

The map shows current water temperatures in Europe and the Mediterranean. The water is particularly warm off the coast of Spain and North Africa, and cooler in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.
This map shows the maximum temperatures and water temperatures on Saturday.

Temperatures like these really make you want to take a dip in the water. The water is already feeling quite pleasant in many parts of the Mediterranean, with half-term around the corner and many families heading for a break.

Temperatures in the western and eastern Mediterranean are already around 20 degrees, whilst the Adriatic is reaching a pleasant 18 degrees.

In the North Sea, the Baltic Sea, and along the Atlantic coast, the water is still a little chilly at 12 to 15 degrees, a little courage is needed to take the plunge there.

The image shows an intense tropical cyclone over the western Pacific, east of Taiwan and the Philippines. The centre of the system is depicted as a light purple and white vortex with a clearly visible eye, surrounded by a ring of red and orange areas indicating the strongest wind speeds. A white arrow marks the typhoon’s predicted track towards the north-west, in the direction of Taiwan. To the west of the storm lie the Philippines, with the cities of Manila and Cebu; to the north of these lies Taiwan, with Taipei. Further west, the Chinese coast, including Hong Kong, and parts of Vietnam can be seen. The coloured wind map shows predominantly green areas outside the storm’s core, indicating significantly weaker winds. White streamlines illustrate the typhoon’s anti-clockwise circulation in the Northern Hemisphere. The highest wind speeds are concentrated around the eye of the cyclone.
