Pakistan continues to suffer from devastating floods. Since the start of the monsoon season at the end of June, almost 1,000 people have lost their lives.

Around 9,000 homes have been destroyed or damaged, and almost three million residents have been forced to leave their homes.

Authorities and aid organisations warn of the spread of waterborne diseases such as intestinal infections and skin allergies. Hundreds of thousands have already received medical care in government camps.

Extreme weather events are on the rise in the South Asian country. As early as 2022, a third of Pakistan was temporarily underwater, killing 1,700 people.
