How to see it!
October's Orionids meteor shower

The Orionids meteor shower is set to peak Monday night into Tuesday, but will you get to see it?

The Orionids are one of two meteor showers originating from Halleys Comet, one of the best known comets in our solar system.

Halley's Comet orbits the Sun, which we cross twice a year. In October, and also in early May, where we see the Eta Aquariids meteor shower.

The meteor shower will be visible until the 7th November, though with its peak between midnight on Monday and dawn early Tuesday morning, 22nd October.

Away from the north-west of the UK and Ireland, skies should be largely clear. If you want the best chance of seeing the meteor shower, find a wide open space away from light pollution and allow your eyes to adjust.

If you're out of luck with the weather conditions on Monday night however, all is not lost as remember they are still visible until the 7th November!

Don't miss out on the comet either!read more
