Ninth storm of the season
Storm Isha named, arrives Sunday

Storm Isha, the ninth named storm of the season, has been named and will arrive Sunday evening.

Isha, named by the Met Office, will impact the UK and Ireland from Sunday evening as an area of low-pressure moves over the north of Scotland.

The system is expected to bring wide-reaching winds of up to 50 - 60 mph across the UK and Ireland, with western areas of Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and England all seeing localised gusts of up to 70 mph.

Weather warnings for winds are in place across the UK and Ireland, with western areas again seeing higher levels of warnings. Rainfall warnings are also in place for Sunday in parts of northern England and southern Scotland.

Forecast

Sunday morning will be gusty from the start, but winds start to pick up into the evening for Ireland with winds reaching up to 60 mph in Cork from around 06:00 pm, spreading east into the UK from thereafter.

From late Sunday night, the strongest gusts of around 70 mph reach Galway as Isha travels north towards Scotland.

It will be a blustery night, into Monday morning, with winds broadly resting at 60 mph across the whole of the UK and Ireland from the early hours.

These are joined by heavy rainfall, and snow over higher altitudes of Scotland, throughout Sunday. Potential remains for thunderstorms also over Northern Ireland, Scotland, and northern England, particularly the North-East near Newcastle.
